Notes From the Rep Biz ~ 8/15/2025

A Comedian, Content Creator, and a Surfer to WME! An agent moves to CAA! Another Love Island contestant gets representation...all this and more in today's Notes From the Rep Biz!

 

At WME:

Comedian Matt Mathews is a new sign for WME. Mathews has been many things over the years, not only a comedian but also a boudoir photographer and a farmer (to name a few). He came to attention during the pandemic with his YouTube comedy and has quickly grown his audience and is currently on tour. Not only that, but Mathews will be releasing a self titled music album next fall.

 

Content creator Topper Guild is now agented by WME. Guild is a prominent TikToker, YouTuber, and Instagramer. Netting a whopping total of roughly 100 million followers across the three platforms. His content is a mixture of unscripted and scripted and he has begun partnering with Pepero snack brand.

 

11 time World Surf League Champion Kelly Slater is a new sign for the agency. Considered by many to be the “world’s greatest surfer” Kelly has also been an outspoken environmentalist, partnering with brands like Quicksilver to promote sustainable production practices. Additionally he founded the skin care company Freaks of Nature in 2024.

 

Folk band Sons of Habit is also a new sign for WME. The band’s debut EP Nostalgia was released earlier this year which included the singles “Madeline” and “Fools Gold.” 

 

 

At CAA:

DGA nominated producer and director Erin O'Malley is a new sign for the Death Star. O’Malley is best known for her work on Curb Your Enthusiasm which she was on from season 3 through 8 and returned in season 10 as a director. She also exec produced New Girl and directed 10 episodes as well.

 

Agent John Nahai has left IAG and joined CAA. Nahai brings with him clients such as Kevin Durand and Suzanna Son.

 

 

At UTA:

Talk show host and comedian Sherri Shepherd is now repped by UTA. Shepherd is currently the host of the talkshow Sherri which was nominated for four daytime Emmy awards in 2023.

 

Digital Brand Architects (DBA owned by UTA) has signed Olandria Carthen. Carthen was the second place winner of Love Island USA season seven. Carthen was a fan favorite for her confidence and charisma. She will next be seen in the Love Island reunion special on August 25th.

 

Leah Halton the 24 year-old model and content creator is a new sign for UTA. Halton has built up a massive following across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. She garnered viral fame with a lipsyncing video to Yo Marley’s “Praise Jah in the Moonlight.”

 

 

OTHER NOTES AROUND TOWN

Actor Colton Haynes is now agented by Innovative Artists. Haynes is best known for his work on CW’s Arrow playing Arsenal and MTV’s Teen Wolf. 

 

Keith Powell has signed with Paradigm. The actor and director played Toofer on 30 Rock and has a recurring role on AppleTV’s Shrinking. On the directing side Powell has directed episodes of Clean Slate, Will Trent, and Not Dead Yet. 

 

Gersh has signed actress Alison Pill. Pill was nominated for a Tony this year for her work in Uncle Vanya. The actress will next be seen in Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

 

Novelist and screenwriter Charlie Huston is now managed by Cinetic Media. Huston wrote the screenplay for Caught Stealing based on his 2004 novel of the same name.

 

Manager Nate Bryson has left Luber Roklin and joined Untitled Entertainment. It is unclear who will all be joining Bryson in his new digs.

 

 

MUSIC NOTES

Singer/songwriter James Arthur has signed with Wasserman. The season 9 winner of The X Factor, Arthur’s sixth studio album was released this past April. 

 

Music Agent Ashley Ventura has joined Cara Lewis Group bringing with her some big names in hip hop like AnyciaBhad Bhabie, and Gashi.

 

 

SPORTS NOTES

Wilde Entertainment a new football agency has launched. The firm comes from executive Krista Burditt and agents Ezra Thompson and Chad Berger have joined as well. Clients include football players: Josh BlackwellJalen VirgilJalen McLeod, and Sean Brown.

 

Basketball player Lexie Brown is now repped by Athletes First. Brown is a guard for the Seattle Storm.

 

 

CASTING NOTES

Mason Dye and Kiki Layne have joined the cast of Amazon’s The Boys prequel Vought Rising. Set in the 1950’s the show will explore the origins of the evil Vought Corporation from The Boys universe. 

 

Eva Longoria is set to star in The Last Sunrise an adaptation of the After romance novel series by Anna Todd. 

 

Eddie Murphy is set to star in Playas Ball an action comedy from director Kyle Newacheck (Happy Gilmore 2).

 

Chase Sui Wonders has joined the cast of Hulu’s Buffy reboot. According to Deadline, Wonders will be a guest star in the Pilot. Wonders was most recently seen in AppleTV’s The Studio and the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot.

 

Speaking of Hulu – Shailene Woodley will star opposite Lindsay Lohan in Count My Lies, a limited series for the streamer. The thriller series is based on the novel by Sophie Stava, and follows Woodley who cons her way into a nanny position with a wealthy family brimming with secrets.
