Sofia Coppola is an American director, screenwriter, producer, and actress born in New York City. Coppola grew up in a family of creative’s; her mother is an artist and her father is a director. As a child she appeared in several of her father’s films such as The Godfather films, The Outsiders, and The Cotton Club. She also appeared in music videos by artists such as Madonna, Sonic Youth, and The Chemical Brothers’. She started making films in 1998 with her first being Lick the Star. She later rose to international fame for her feature film Lost In Translation in 2003 which won her an Academy Award and 3 Golden Globe Awards.
