Sia is an Australian singer and songwriter from Adelaide. Sia grew up with strong creative influences; her father was a musician and her mother is an art lecturer. Citing musicians such as Sting, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin as strong influences, it was only after high school that she decided to pursue singing as a fulltime career. She used to perform in a band called Crisp and sang in two of their albums produced in the late 1990’s. She later did the backing vocals for various other bands in London for a couple of years while releasing more of her own music before getting her international break with her 5th album We Are Born in 2010.
