Reese Witherspoon is an American actress and producer born in New Orleans and raised in Tennessee. At the young age of seven, Witherspoon appeared in a television advertisement which inspired her to take acting lessons. In 1991, she made her film debut after landing a lead role in The Man in the Moon. In the years that followed she made a name for herself with strong performances in films such as Freeway, Cruel Intentions, Election and Pleasantville, before having her big commercial break with the film Legally Blonde. Witherspoon won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Walk the Line (2005) and was nominated again in the same category for the film Wild (2014). Witherspoon is now also an active producer, whose credits include the hit HBO mini-series Big Little Lies.
