In her early years she started off beatboxing and rapping in various rap groups, and in 1989 she released her debut album, All Hail the Queen. When Latifah started acting she appeared in shows and films such as Living Single, Juice, Jungle Fever, as well as her own show, The Queen Latifah Show. She had her acting breakthrough in 2002 with her role in the film Chicago, which earned her an Oscar nomination, and she has gone on to star in a number of acclaimed films and television movies. She is an active producer, as well, and has won a Golden Globe.
