She made her first film appearance in the film Ghoulies in 1985. She landed her first recurring television role in the series Downtown in 1986, appeared in others such as Falcon Crest, Tequila and Bonetti, and Seinfield before getting breaking through with her main role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Awards she has won include 1 Golden Globe Award, 1 Primetime Emmy Award, and 3 Gracie Awards.
