Lil Wayne is an American rapper and songwriter from the New Orleans neighborhood of Hollygrove. Wayne started writing song lyrics at a very young age. His talents were quickly recognized which resulted in him getting signed by the record label Cash Money Records at the young age of 9. He released his debut album Tha Block Is Hot in 1999 which was a success certifying platinum. With over 10 albums to his name Wayne started rising to international prominence after releasing his Tha Carter album in 2004. Awards he has won include 1 American Music Award, 4 Grammy Awards, and 10 BET Awards.
