Swank was involved in swimming, gymnastics, performing in her schooling years where she appeared in productions such as The Jungle Book. She later moved with her father to L.A. to further her acting interests. She eventually rose to prominence in the 1990’s appearing in films and series such as The Next Karate Kid, Kounterfeit, and Beverly Hills, 90210. Swank then rose to international fame starring in the Clint Eastwood-directed boxing film Million Dollar Baby. She has received the Academy Award for Best Actress twice in her career, for her performances in Boys Don't Cry (1999) and the aforementioned Million Dollar Baby. (2004)
