Greta Gerwig is an American actress, screenwriter, director, and filmmaker from Sacramento. Gerwig had an interest in dancing and was going to study musical theater but opted for English and philosophy with the intention of becoming a playwright. She made her first film appearance in LOL in 2006. She also appeared in Hannah Takes the Stairs and Nights, and Weekends which she also co-wrote and co-directed before rising to fame with her role in the 2010 film Greenberg which earned her numerous nominations. She started acting professionally on stage in 2014 in a production called The Village Bike.
