Charlize Theron is a South African actress, model and producer raised in Benoni. Theron started modeling in Europe after she won a modeling contract, and also studied ballet, but stopped due to injuries. Her film debut was in Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest in 1995. Theron had her big break in 2000 after starring in four films in the same year, those being The Legend of Bagger Vance, Men of Honor, Reindeer Games, and The Yards. She won an Oscar for her work in the independent drama Monster, and has received great acclaim for performances in such diverse films as Jason Reitman's Young Adult and George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road.
