Notes from the Rep Biz - 5-25-2018

A Star Trek star to WME, a new agent to CAA, and an Orange is the New Black star to UTA! It’s Friday and you know what that means? Another edition of Notes from the Rep Biz!
 
At WME:
 
Star Trek and Aardvark star Zachary Quinto has signed with Brian DePersia, James Farrell, and Warren Zavala. Quinto will next be seen in the indie drama Who We Are Now which is being released today. He’ll next be seen in the sci-fi actioner Hotel Artemis. He remains repped by manager Jason Weinberg at Untitled Entertainment.  
 
Writer/director/producer Antonio Campos has signed with James Farrel, Mike Simpson, Roger Green, and Tom Wellington. Campos wrote and directed the 2008 film Afterschool which screened at Cannes in the un certain regard category. Recently he’s been directing TV with stints on Netflix/Marvel’s The Punisher and The Sinner. He continues to be managed by Melissa Breaux at Management 360.
 
Director, actor, and writer Karena Evans has signed with Tanya Cohen, Ashley Holland, Esther Chang, George Freeman, Simon Faber, and Yasmine Pearl.  On the directing side, Evans comes from the music video and commercial world, directing music videos for Drake and worked on a Nike Air Max campaign inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. As an actress she has a recurring role on the Lifetime series Mary Kills People. She’s repped by manager Stephanie Moy at Elevate.
 
Music agents Andrew Colvin and Adam Voith have moved to WME from Billions. It is believed they are bringing along with them they’re entire roster, including – Bon Iver, Dawes, Jason Isbell, and Mumford and Sons.
 
At CAA:
 
Agent Fatmata Kamara has left Abrams Artists and joined CAA. She is bringing along actors such as Black Panther breakout Winston Duke, Anne Diop, Kendrick Sampson, and Rhenzy Feliz among others.
 
At UTA:
 
Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks has signed with UTA. Brooks is best known for her breakout role of Taystee on the Netflix series. She’s also guest starred on Master of None and Girls. She’ll next be seen opposite Anna Kendrick in Chris Morris’ upcoming film. She also debuted on Broadway in the revival of The Color Purple and was nominated for a Tony. Her manager is Jill McGrath at Door 24.
 
Former Americn Idol judge Randy Jackson has signed with UTA. Jackson is a man of many talents who has won Grammys and performed with such acts like Madonna, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and many more. After finishing up on Idol in 2014 Jackson created his own management and production company Dream Merchant 21 Entertainment which produces the MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. He’ll still be repped by managers Jon Liebman and Marc Gurvitz at Brillstein Entertainment and Lori Sale at Artist and Brand Management.
 
At ICM:
 
Actor Anthony Carrigan has signed with Bonnie Bernstein, Chris Horsman, and Steven Brown. Carrigan is best known for the role of Victor Zzasz on Batman prequel series Gotham, and also has a memorable stint on HBO’s Barry. He continues to be managed by Colleen Schlegel at Schlegel Entertainment and United Agents in the U.K.
 
Aden Young star of Sundance TV’s Rectify has signed with Bonnie Bernstein, Lorrie Bartlett, and Philip Grenz.  Young will next be seen in the indie dramedy Elsewhere opposite Jackie Weaver and Beau Bridges. His manager is Eli Selden at Anonymous Content and Shanahan Management in Australia.
 
Other Notes from the Rep Biz:
 
Filmmakers David and Alex Pastor have signed with Amy Beecroft, Bryan Besser, Felicia Prinz, and Parker Davis at Verve. The sibling duo are the creators behind SyFy’s Incorporated and the action film Self/Less starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley. They are repped by manager Alex Lerner at Kaplan/Perrone.
 
Management Notes:
 
Actor Mo McRae has signed with Heather Nunn and Kim Hodgert at Anonymous Content. McRae will next be seen Universal’s The First Purge as well as the next season of HBO’s Big Little Lies. He remains agented by Ben Dey and Joel Lubin at CAA.
 
Actress and comedienne Jackie Tohn has signed with Bryan Walsh, Maggie Haskins, and Peter Principato at Artists First. Tohn is best known for her recurring role as the bitchy Melrose on Netflix’s Glow, and has been upped to series regular for season two. She also played Gilda Radner in A Futile and Stupid Gesture and has had roles in CHIPS, The Good Place, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She’s repped by agents Brian Boone, Jaquie Katz, Josh Pearl, Mark Gordon, and Sam Bringardner.
