Notes from the Rep Biz - 12-8-2017

At WME:

Mega screenwriters/producers Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa, the duo behind Jurassic World, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming Avatar 2, have left UTA and signed with Paul Haas and Steve Rabineau. The pair’s next project will be Disney’s upcoming live action adaptation of Mulan.

Powerhouse APA comedy agent Mike Berkowitz has left APA and jumped over to WME, where he will become a partner and head up their comedy touring team. It’s unclear who will follow him to his new digs, but his roster includes big-name comedians like Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Tiffany Haddish and TJ Miller.

Hamilton actress Emmy Raver-Lampman has joined WME in all areas. Raver-Lampman can be currently seen in the national touring production of Hamilton as Angelica Schuyler, and she was recently cast in Netflix’s upcoming The Umbrella Academy, opposite Ellen Page. She continues to be managed by Alissa Feldman at Authentic Talent and Literary.

America’s Got Talent judge Mel B. (aka Melanie Brown and Scary Spice from the Spice Girls) has signed with WME. She can currently be seen in Chocolate City: Vegas Strip and the film Killing Hasselhoff.

Other notes around town:

Supermodel, TV Personality, and producer Tyra Banks has left WME and headed over to UTA. Banks will be returning as the host of America’s Next Top Model (a show which she created and produces) in January. Earlier this year, Banks joined America’s Got Talent as a host.

Jackie Knobbe and Max Burgos have been promoted as heads of comedy for APA following Mike Berkowitz’s move to WME. Their rosters include: Lewis Black, Paula Poundstone, Eddie Izzard and Leslie Jones, among others.

Actress Missy Peregrym has signed with Nick LoPiccolo and Jim Dempsey at Paradigm. Peregrym can be currently seen on SyFy’s Van Helsing as Scarlett Harker. She’s also well remembered for roles on CW’s Reaper and the 2006 film Stick It. She’s managed by Jai Khanna at Brillstein Entertainment.

Marvel’s Inhumans star Eme Ikwuakor has signed with Brett Norensberg and Mike Staudt at Gersh. Aside from playing Gorgon on Marvel’s Inhumans his other credits include How to Get Away With Murder and Extant. He continues to be managed by Jason Priluck at Priluck Company.  

Beasts of the Southern Wild Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis has signed with Sherry Kayne at Green Room Management. Since her Oscar nominated debut, Wallis has starred in Annie and was in 12 Years a Slave, The Prophet, Fathers and Daughters, and was a voice in the DreamWorks animated film Trolls. She continues to be agented by Andrea Nelson-Meigs at ICM Partners.
