Notes from the Rep Biz - 1-26-2018

Welcome back to another edition of notes from the Rep Biz.
 
At WME:

Ari Aster, whose dark thriller directorial debut Hereditary premiered at this year’s Sundance Festival, has signed with Dan Aloni, Roger Green and Ryan Feldman. Aster also directed the shorts The Strange Thing About the Johnsons and Munchausen, which starred Rachel Brosnahan. Aster is managed by Kevin Rowe at Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.
 
Singer/Songwriter Philip Phillips is yet another musician to leave CAA and head over to WME. Philips came to prominence on season 11 of American Idol, and his first single “Home” has been certified five times platinum.
 
Also joining WME music is country music singer/songwriter Cam. Cam’s first single “Burning House” was released in 2015 and earned a platinum certification. Cam has also collaborated with such acts as Miley Cyrus and Sam Smith.
 
Schitt’s Creek co-creator, executive producer/showrunner, and co-star Dan Levy has signed with Chelsea Radler. Schitt’s Creek, which Levy co-created and co-stars in with his father Eugene, is now in its fourth season.
 

At CAA:

Documentary filmmakers T.J. Martin and Dan Lindsay, whose film Undefeated won the 2012 Oscar for Best Documentary, have signed with Amanda Lebow. The duo’s National Geographic doc about the Rodney King riots, LA 92, earned them an Emmy for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking, and was on the short list for this year’s Oscars.

Actress Tiffany Boone has signed with Lauren Williams and Sean Liebowitz. Boone can currently be seen in Lena Waithe’s showtime drama The Chi. Her other credits include the films Beautiful Creatures and Detention, and TV roles on Southland, Grey’s Anatomy and Perception. She continues to be managed by Adam Griffin and Samir Karar at LINK Entertainment.   

Actor Dougray Scott who was recently seen on Crackle’s Snatch series adaptation has signed with Brad Schenck, Brian Mann, and Carter Cohn. Scott will next be seen in the series The Woman in White.

Comedian/social media influencer Jess Hilarious has signed with April King and Michael Grinspan. Hilarious, who’s instagram currently has 2.8 million followers, was on the MTV reality series Wild n’ Out.
 
ICM has acquired the literary agency The Sagalyn Agency, a Washington D.C. based company which reps journalists, historians, biographers, thought leaders, scientists and novelists.
 

AT UTA:
 
YouTuber Jay Versace has signed with Chelsea McKinnies and Ty Flynn. Versace currently has 5 million followers and starred in Fullscreen’s Jay Versace is Stuck in the 90’s, where the youtuber time travels to the “distant past” of 1990 (feeling old yet?) and has to figure out how to get back to his own time using the “antiquated” technology. Stephanie Piza at Flip Management is his manager.

Fear the Walking Dead: Passage star Mishel Prada has signed with Dean Fluker, Logan Eisnberg and Steven Bombino at UTA. Prada is set as a series regular on the Starz drama Vida. She continues to be managed by Alex Czuleger at The Green Room.
 
Singer/songwriter and actor Lenny Kravitz has signed with Jim Berkus. The idea is for Kravitz to continue to cross-departmentally pursue music, branding, fine art and licensing.  
 

Management Notes:

Katie Newman, director of development and production at Lord and Miller’s TV based company at 20th Century Fox, has joined 3 Arts as a manager.
 
The Tiger Hunter actor Anand Desai-Barochia has signed with manager Sherry Kayne of The Green Room. Desai-Barochia will next be seen in the SyFy fantasy series The Outpost.

Mitchell Gossett has left CESD and joined Industry Entertainment as a manager. It is unclear who will be following him to his new digs, but it is believed that most of his clients will follow him. They include Luke Benward, Thomasin Mckenzie, and Danielle Campbell, among many others.
 
Lit agent Jayme Yarow has left Innovative and joined Thruline as a manager. Yarow has staffed multiple writers on shows such as New Girl, Ghosted, Saturday Night Live, and others. It’s unclear who will follow Yarow to her new gig, but it’s believed all her clients will join her. They include Ify Nwadiwe, Lamar Woods and Mano Agapian among others. Thruline has also promoted Alexandra Peck to Development Coordinator.
