Notes from the Rep Biz - 1-18-2019

At UTA:

GOP governor and potential presidental hopeful John Kasich has signed with Jay Sures. Kasich, whose two-term run as the Governor of Ohio just ended, may be mulling another presidential run to challenge Donald Trump.  

Former ABC News executive Marc Paskin has been hired as a news and broadcast agent. He had also previously been at Innovative Artists.
 
Veteran literary agent David Lubliner has come to the firm after a lengthy run at WME. His clients include directors like Manchester by the Sea's Kenneth Lonergan and About a Boy's Chris Weitz.

Agent Darnell Strom, who spent the past nine years at CAA, has been tapped by the agency to head a newly created Culture and Leadership division. He also had spent time on President Obama's White House Entertainment Council, advocating for social issues close to the entertainment industry.

Lastly, South American filmmaker Alejandro Landes and comedy legend Queen Latifah are both new signings for the agency. 

 
At CAA:
 
The Handmaid's Tale's Reed Morano has signed with Adriana Alberghetti and Mira Yong. She serves as director, executive producer, and cinematographer on the hit Hulu series.
 

At ICM Partners:
 
Agent Rich Green has left the Media Rights division to join Gotham Group in TV & Film after five years with the agency. He actually had been named head of the Media Rights department last year.

Longtime partner Lorrie Bartlett has been promoted to the Board of Directors. She is believed to be the first black board member of a major Hollywood agency. Congratulations!

At WME:

Director Bart Freundlich has signed with agents David Karp and Roger Green. His latest movie After The Wedding has been tapped to open Sundance Film Festival next week.

APA:
 
The firm has promoted three agents in its literary group. Sheryl Petersen and Ryan Saul will co-head the Motion Picture Literary division, while Lindsay Howard Parker will do the same for Television Literary.
 
 
Management Notes:
 
Van Helsing star Kelly Overton has signed with More/Medavoy. She continues to be represented by Innovative Artists as well.
 
Manager Kelly Miller has joined Literate. She had previously been at Paradigm, where she worked as a Theater-to-TV agent.
