Ellen Degeneres has a new agency, CAA signs new music acts, new horror filmmaker signs for UTA, A Love Islander signs with Gersh, and Camilla Cabello has new management. All this and MORE in Notes From the Rep Biz!

At WME: 

Looking for a career comeback, Ellen DeGeneres has signed with WME. The comedienne and talkshow host, recently moved to the U.K. and is looking to start making content across the pond.

Country western singer Spencer Hatcher who gained much of his popularity through social media in 2020, and his newest single “When She Calls Me Cowboy” releases today.  

Also now repped by WME; entrepreneur Lucy Blakiston the creator of the online news platform “Shit You Should Care About.”

David Longstreth the singer/songwriter and a founding member of the band Dirty Projectors is now moving into the composing space with help from his new agency. 

At CAA: 

Country music duo, LOCASH is now agented by CAA. The group’s latest album Bet the Farm was released this past April and hit number 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. 

Tessa Thompson has signed with CAA as well. The actress, best known for her roles as Valkyrie in the MCU and in the Creed films, will next be seen as Hedda Gabbler in Nia DaCosta’s upcoming film Hedda. 

Rock band Incubus is also now repped by the death star. A staple of rock stations in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, the band took a break in the 2010’s, but came back in 2013 and have continued to tour and release albums ever since. In February 2024, Incubus brought on new bassist Nicole Row.

Phoenix Suns Center Nick Richards is now repped by CAA as well.

At UTA: 

Writer/Director Emma Tammi is now repped by UTA. The filmmaker blasted onto the scene with the horror/western film The Wind in 2018, and then made the smash hit Five Nights at Freddy’s. Next up for Tammi is, naturally, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 expected to release later this year..  

Influencer Eric Sedeno is another new sign for the agency. Sedeno has steadily grown a following through his comedic TikTok and Instagram posts. Which has allowed him to collaborate with major brands such as Uniqlo, Amazon, and Meta.  

Rapper YG is also a new sign for the agency. The artist whose latest song “Hollywood” released in May has been climbing up the Spotify charts.  

Another new signing is Grammy winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist Steve Lacy. Lacy joins his former agent Caroline Yim at her new digs at UTA.    

Writer/director Alex Ullom is now agented by UTA. Ullom wrote and directed the film It Ends which received critical acclaim after its premiere at SXSW this year. The film is currently making its festival run now.

At Gersh: 

Manager Chris Horsman has left Principal Entertainment and joined Gersh as an agent. And while it may take a moment for all his clients to be sorted out, we do now clients moving with him are actors Takehiro Hira, Lara Pulver, Dimitri Leonidas, Jon Rudnitsky, Gratiela Brancusi, and Besir Zeciri. 

Gersh has also promoted coordinators; Jamie Eisman and Rachel Erickson. 

Amaya Espinal, winner of Love Island USA Season 7 is now agented by Gersh. Espinal’s positivity and earnestness quickly endeared her to fans of the show. Additionally she has also signed with Untitled Entertainment for management. She will next appear on the Love Island Season 7 reunion special in August. 

Other Notes Around Town: 

Writer/director/producer Chad Charlie has signed with Verve. Charlie is best known for his work on Reservation Dogs and the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series Elle. He is currently exec producing and writing the true crime podcast series Running Smoke about Derek White, NASCAR’s first indigenous driver who was caught up in a tobacco smuggling operation. 

Actress DeWanda Wise is a new sign for Range Media Partners. Wise will next be seen in the action film Killer Bee which she also exec produced. Also Jack Reacher himself, Alan Ritchson is now managed by Range. Ritchson has a ton of projects coming down the pike including the films; Runner (which he also produced), Motor City, Netflix’s War Machine, the next Fast and the Furious installment, and let’s not forget season 4 of Reacher. 

Actress, producer, and director Sarah Paulson has signed with Entertainment 360 for management. Next up for Paulson - Hulu legal drama All’s Fair alongside Naomi Watts and Kim Kardashian. Actress Naomi Scott is also a new sign for Entertainment 360. Scott will next star  in the romantic fantasy Eternal Return (which she also produced).

Lit agent Kathleen Remington has left CAA and started her own management company. It is unclear at this time who all will be following Remington to her new gig.

Music Notes:

Singer/songwriter Camila Cabello has signed with Full Stop Management. Her latest album C,XOXO was released last year and landed at number 13 on the top Billboard 200. 

Sports Notes:

Sports agent Tory Dandy has left CAA and joined Athletes First. 

Arizona Cardinals Lineback BJ Ojulari is now agented by Roc Nation Sports.

Miami Heat guard Norman Powell is now repped by Glushon Sports Management.
