Notes from the Rep Biz - 4-02-21

At UTA

UTA, which was already one of the best stocked agencies as far as creator and influencer talent, announced last week that managers Mahzad Babayan and Scarlett Perlman would be joining the firm as agents in the digital space. The two new agents come from Fullscreen, the content creator specialty house, and are expected to bring along talent such as BdotAdot5, Nick DiGiovanni and Yoatzi Castro.

Sticking with theme, UTA has also signed YouTube star Nailea Devora, as well as the fourth Jonas Brother, Frankie Jonas, who is both a musician and a rising social media star in his own right.

At CAA:

CAA nabbed a pair of young actors on the rise; Minari breakout Alan Kim isn't even ten years old, while Jack Champion, one star of the upcoming Avatar sequels, is all of twelve.

Other CAA signings include actor/filmmaker Matt Ross (Captain Fantastic) and actor/R&B star Miguel.

Elsewhere Around Town:

Let us not sleep on ICM Partners in this game of signing social media-ites; the agency has nabbed Josh Richards and Griffin Johnson, two standouts in the TikTok teen talent pool.

WME's recent signings include magician Derek DelGaudio (In & Of Itself) and chef Matty Matheson, who is, yes, another social media star.

Actress Maggie Grace has signed with Gersh, Emory Cohen (Brooklyn) is now with ICM Partners, and in demand Dutch actor Josha Stradowski is now represented by Range Media Partners.

And, finally, Jay Baker, the feature lit agent whose list ran from Lee Isaac Chung to Steven Spielberg, has been let go by the agency after an incident involving a deeply insulting joke.
