Notes from the Rep Biz - 12-04-20

At UTA:

UTA has not let the pandemic stop it from signing new talent. Over the past several weeks the agency has signed three stars from three very different Netflix series — Xolo Maridueña of Cobra Kai, Camille Cottin of French-language hit Call My Agent, and The Crown's Gillian Anderson.

Other UTA signs include model/philanthropist Karlie Kloss, YouTube grooming pro Kyle Krieger, and the voice of Young Simba from Disney's most recent version of The Lion King, actor JD McCrary.

At CAA:

CAA has signed two young actresses on the rise — Helena Zengel of the forthcoming Tom Hanks film News of the World and Hunter Schafer, one of the stars of HBO's Euphoria.

At WME:

WME has also signed a buzz-y name in Adarsh Gourav, who stars opposite Priyanka Chopra in the upcoming Netflix film The White Tiger. The agency can also count actor/writer/director Joel Edgerton as a client.

Management Notes:

While this might be a moment for caution still in the industry, new mega-management company Range Media Partners continues to sign major talent. It was announced this week that Chris Hemsworth has joined the fold, as well as action star on the rise Boyd Holbrook. But perhaps the most potentially lucrative signing for Range is Damon Lindelof, one of the hottest TV creators on the planet.

The other significant new management company on the block, M88, has kept busy as well, announcing the signings of Taraji P. Henson and busy director Tina Mabry.

A pair of "Eve"'s have signed with new management — Alice Eve (Belgravia) has signed with Silver Lining Entertainment and Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor) has signed with Anonymous Content.

Elsewhere Around Town:

A number of reps have new homes, as the pandemic continues to reshape Hollywood. Two big moves are veteran TV agent Leslie Maskin leaving UTA to join Circle of Confusion as a manager, and Arielle Mesirow departing WME to join production company PatMa as VP of Comedy.

Other reps on the move include TV agent Natasha Ahmed, who joins CAA from UTA; agent David Neumann, who has left CAA to start his own animation-focused management company, Newmation; and agents Davina Hefflin and Julian Cohen, who have both joined Verve, from Gersh and Management 360, respectively.

A3 Agency continues to sign influencers, adding Tik Tok couple Abbie & Josh Herbert, as well as Hype House member Larray. For good measure, they also added TV writer/producer Trey Callaway.
