That people are surprised by Gravity's success is understandable—the movie was touted as being exceptionally executed all around, but one never knows whether audiences will agree. After two weeks in release, the answer is loud and clear: this film is the break-out hit of 2013. If there is anyone out there surprised that Machete Kills failed to bring in even $4M opening against Captain Phillips and the Gravity juggernaut, that person is in need of some serious introspection.
