Box Office Round-Up ~ 10/19/26

The top five this past weekend was almost entirely new arrivals, with a not-so-surprising winner and a very surprising runner-up. At the top of the chart was the latest big screen adaptation of Street Fighter with an opening weekend of $30.7 million. That’s comparable to the entire domestic haul of the 1994 Street Fighter and almost triple the worldwide gross of 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. It’s a little less than Mortal Kombat II’s opening weekend back in May, though Street Fighter may outperform its arcade rival in the long run.

The headliner of the weekend was actually in second place as Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder’s documentary You Can See Everything, a look at Elizabeth Holmes and her family in the days leading up to her imprisonment, debuted with $15.6 million. It’s the biggest opening weekend for a non-concert documentary since Fahrenheit 9/11 back in 2004. Critical acclaim and positive word-of-mouth will likely bolster the experimental documentary heading into awards season.

Other Mommy took third place in its second weekend with $8.2 million to pass $44 million overall domestically. In fourth place, new release survival thriller Whalefall opened with $7.8 million, which the latest adaptation of Sense and Sensibility (led by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles) rounded out the top five with $7.2 million.
