Box Office Round-Up ~ 11/24/25
Insert your jokes about the box office “defying gravity” here, because Wicked: For Good debuted this past weekend with a massive $147 million opening weekend. It’s the second highest opening weekend of the year (behind A Minecraft Movie), and it’s outperforming last year’s Wicked by several million bucks. It might face some competition from new arrival Zootopia 2 this Wednesday, but the witches of Oz look primed to clean up over the extended Thanksgiving weekend.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t moved to second place with $9.1 million, for a domestic total of $36 million over two weekends in theaters. Predator: Badlands stayed in third place with $6.5 million, passing the $75 million mark overall. The Running Man continued its disappointing theatrical run with $5.7 million, just clearing $26 million in two weekends. New release Rental Family, starring Brendan Fraser, rounded out the top five with $3.3 million.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving sees the aforementioned Zootopia 2, along with the wide expansion of Eternity, starring Elizabeth Olsen, and the limited releases of Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (in advance of its streaming debut on Netflix).
