Box Office Round-Up ~ 1/26/26

Winter storms across the nation kept most people away from theaters over the final full weekend of January, allowing new release Mercy to unseat Avatar: Fire and Ash atop the box office. The Chris Pratt-led sci-fi thriller debuted to overall negative reviews, but its $10.8 million was enough to win the weekend. Avatar took second place after six weekends with $6.4 million, for a domestic total of $377 million so far.

In third place, Zootopia 2 passed $400 million in the U.S. with a ninth weekend total of $5.3 million. The Housemaid grossed $3.9 million, followed closely by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple with $3.6 million in its second weekend.

The end of January and start of February sees the arrival of Iron Lung, from video game YouTuber Markiplier, along with Send Help from director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, The Evil Dead), Jason Statham actioner Shelter and Amazon/MGM’s documentary Melania.
