Western Conference Finals: Game 4

Welcome to another edition of WhoReps' look at the NBA Playoffs. Today we'll be looking at Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Enjoy! Click a bolded name to see their page.

Well, it happened. After seven consecutive stinkers in both series combined, the Conference Finals finally produced a classic. The Houston Rockets took the Golden State Warriors' best punch more than once, and still pulled out a stunning 95-92 victory to steal back home-court advantage and knot the series up at two. Golden State thought they had this in the bag on multiple occasions, and got sloppy with poor shots and turnovers. Kevin Durant will play his first Game 6 in a Warriors uniform.

Give all the credit in the world to the Rockets. After Golden State scored the first twelve points of the game, they didn't wilt. After the Warriors took another twelve point lead in the fourth quarter, they continued to battle. And in the end, they ended the longest home playoff winning streak in NBA history. A game like last night is exactly why the Rockets went out and acquired nine time All-Star Chris Paul in the offseason. Paul diced up the Warriors' defense in the final three quarters, hitting big threes and making perfect passes to Rocket shooters Trevor Ariza and Eric Gordon. The always-scrappy P.J. Tucker gave them huge minutes on the interior, with the 6'5 wing racking up an outrageous 16 rebounds. James Harden looked every bit like the MVP in the first half, imposing his will with his unstoppable combo of outside shooting and rim attacks. On one sequence in particular, he absolutely embarrased defensive ace Draymond Green with a poster dunk that will surely end up part of his career highlight reel.

The Warriors have no reason to panic just yet. They've already won once before in Houston this series, and are fully capable of doing so again. They will likely get crucial starter Andre Iguodala back, and Durant and Curry won't miss over 30 shots between them again. Flamethrower Klay Thompson also will be back to form, after injuring his leg in the second quarter and looking somewhat limited upon his return. But this is new territory for this group. They've been tied 2-2 before, but never without home-court advantage. If Iguodala and Thompson are significantly less than 100% or missing entirely, this series is right there for Houston. And thats a phrase thats never been said before about a Western Conference team facing these Warriors.
