Series Snapshot ~ 1/15/2026

Welcome to the Series Snapshot, a weekly deep dive into the shows topping the streaming charts.

Netflix’s new limited series His and Hers takes a confident “most watched” this week, as Stranger Things viewership begins to fall off. His and Hers is a psychological crime thriller based on the 2020 novel of the same name by author Alice Feeney. The six-episode series tells the story of journalist Anna Andrews (Tessa Thompson) and her ex-husband Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) as they race one another to solve a murder in Dahlonega, Georgia. Critical reception is generally positive, and the series leads are praised for their fiery screen chemistry. His and Hers not only takes place in Georgia, it was also shot there, which some fans find refreshing as productions often use Georgia to double for other locations in the country. The authentic location contributes to the drama’s humid, noir atmosphere, and compliments the show’s stark cinematography. His and Hers also stars Pablo Schreiber and Crystal R. Fox, and was created by William Oldroyd

For Hulu, the wildly popular ABC original High Potential is back at number one, ahead of Grey’s AnatomyHigh Potential returns from its midseason break after outperforming its first season in viewership, and netted over 13 Million views during its first week back. The comedy-mystery’s success is always attributed to Kaitlin Olsons tour de force performance as Morgan Gillory, as well as the serialized formula of episodic mysteries within an overarching season plot. Season two also sees the addition of Steve Howey as Detective Nick Wagner, who is a welcome addition to the show’s dynamic. High Potential also stars Daniel Sunjata and Javicia Leslieand was created by Drew Goddard.

HBO’s long awaited second season of The Pitt dropped its first episode January 8th, to near perfect scores across several aggregates. The medical drama’s series debut dazzled audiences with its realism, strong acting performances and unique format; the whole season takes place in one day, with each episode equating to one hour, beginning at 7:00 AM and ending at 9:00PM, the season finale. The new season will follow the same format, and sees the return of Noah Wyle, who has now won both a Golden Globe and Emmy award for his performance as Dr. “Robby” Robinavitch. Patrick Ball as the charismatic, quick-witted Dr. Langdon also returns along with a few new characters to round out the cast and add new workplace tensions- Sepideh Moafi takes charge as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, a tech-obsessed new attending, and Luke Tennie plays Dr. Crus Henderson, a fourth-year resident working the night shift.  The Pitt was created by R. Scott Gemmill, and new episodes are released every Thursday.

At Amazon Prime Video, the new season of Fallout defends its spot at number one, now two weeks running. The post-nuclear apocalypse series is often praised for its faithful recreation of its source material, Bethesda’s Fallout videogame franchise. Both iterations juggle poignant commentary with sardonic humor, and the Amazon cast receives high marks for their performances. The alt-future wasteland is brought to life by its core cast: Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, and Aaron Moten as Maximus. Season two sees the location move to New Vegas, of which the videogame counterpart installment is considered a high point. New episodes release every Wednesday at midnight, with a season finale scheduled for February 4th, 2026. Fallout was created by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner.

On AppleTV, a big shakeup happened this week as spy thriller Tehran returned for its third season and dethroned Pluribus! Even after Rhea Seehorn’s Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Drama TV Series. Pluribus still remains AppleTV’s most watched IP of all time, but Tehran’s sudden spike in popularity was explosive enough to be the streaming winner of the week. Some of this surge can be attributed to the new season’s addition of one of TV’s greatest actors, Hugh Laurie, who plays a South African Nuclear Inspector stationed in Iran. The series stars Niv Sultan, as Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad agent and tech wizard, and Shaun Toub, who plays Faraz Kamali, an investigator for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp, and the show’s main antagonist. Tehran is often praised for its nuanced portrayal of conflicts in the Middle East, avoiding black-and-white takes and addressing complexities within the various represented cultures. Season three raises the stakes higher than ever before, with audiences fully invested in what comes next. Tehran was created by Moshe ZonderDana Eden, and Maor Kohn.

For Disney Plus, Percy Jackson and the Olympians took another victory lap at the top of the streaming chart for the platform this week. The series, adapted from the popular young-adult fiction novels, continues to receive high praise for its authentic capture of the original concept.

Series author Rick Riordan is now heavily involved in production, ensuring a more cohesive vision, something the earlier film adaptations sorely lacked. The current season, based on the second book The Sea of Monsters, is faring better than the first season, perhaps due to strong plot development, actor confidence and no shortage of action. Fans won’t have to wait too long for season three either; The Titan’s Curse is set to release in late 2026. Percy Jackson and the OlympiansThe Sea of Monsters stars Walker ScobellLeah Sava' Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri
