Eminem is an American rapper, songwriter, and actor from Detroit. In his youth Eminem was interested in English and wanted to write his own comic book, however that soon changed after hearing a rap song at age 9. He started rapping at 14 and years later released his debut album Infinite. He had his career breakthrough when legendary rap producer Dr. Dre listened to a demo tape of his, signed him, and released his hit album, The Slim Shady LP. Since then, Eminem has gone on to become one of the most respected and best-selling artists in hip-hop. He starred in the hit movie 8 Mile, which was inspired by his own life story, and for which he won an Academy Award for Best Song.
