Cate Blanchett is an Australian actress, director, and producer from suburban Melbourne. Blanchett started exploring the performing arts in her time in college. She then attended university, dropped out and played a small role in her first movie in the Egyptian film Koboria. She decided to pursue acting fulltime when she moved back to Australia. She performed in theater and Australian television before getting her major break playing Queen Elizabeth I in the film Elizabeth. Elizabeth was her first of seven total Oscar nominations to date. She has won the Oscar twice, for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine.
