Notes from the Rep Biz - 9-27-2019

At WME:

Riz Ahmed, one of the most respected and in-demand actors of the moment, has signed with a team that includes Phillip Sun and Theresa Kang. The agency will also rep him on the music side.

U.K. filmmaker Nick Rowland, whose film Calm With Horses drew raves at TIFF, is now with the agency, as is NFL player-turned-analyst Jason Bell.

The agency also added music booking agent Travis Wolfe from APA. He will work out of WME's Nashville office.

At CAA:

SNL standout Cecily Strong has signed with Rachel Rusch.

Another comedian, Maz Jobrani, has returned to CAA (from UTA) to sign with a team that includes Brett Loncar, Sam Brindgardner, Steve Smooke and Praveen Pandian.

Elsewhere around town:

UTA has signed human-swiss-army-knife Chance the Rapper. Best known as a rapper (for obvious reasons), he has also been an actor, filmmaker, producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur, and UTA will rep him across the board — with the exception of North American touring, where he will remain with agent Cara Lewis.

ICM Partners has signed Algerian filmmaker Mounia Meddour, whose most recent film, Papicha, played Cannes. Her point will be Bart Walker.

Paradigm has added LeAnn Rimes to the roster, where she will represented in all areas. Her team with include talent agent Scott Melrose, as well as Marty Diamond and Jonathan Levine on the music side.

Acclaimed Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid is now a client at Gersh, where his agents are Jason Klorfein and Joseph Veltre.
