Weekend Report, December 2, 2013

To say that girl power drove the Thanksgiving box office to record heights would be an oversimplification, but it is definitely the theme as the industry pours over the returns from the long weekend. Catching Fire has a female protagonist, and Frozen has two, but it seems no one explained to America that that meant these films shouldn't be major box office draws. Just to underline the point, testosterone fest Homefront could not even crack $7M against its fairer competition.
