Sofia Vergara is a Colombian actress, producer and former model from the port city of Barranquilla. Vergara dropped out of university to pursue her career in entertainment. She was discovered initially as a model, and eventually transitioned to hosting and other on camera work, before crossing over into acting. By the mid-2000s, she was on Hollywood's radar, having appeared in films such as in Four Brothers and Soul Plane, and series like Dirty Sexy Money and Men In Trees. Vergara is now best known for her career-defining role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the smash hit sitcom Modern Family. Her work on Modern Family has earned her four Golden Globe Award nominations, four Emmy Award nominations and four Best Ensemble wins at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
