Sandra Bullock is an American actress and producer from the DC area. Bullock had early showbiz influences, her mother was a travelling opera singer. She took lessons in ballet and singing and then in high school she performed in theater productions before getting a Fine Arts degree in university. Early in her career she played roles in student films and independent films, she later gained recognition with films such as Demolition Man, Speed, While You Were Sleeping, and A Time to Kill. She is twice-nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, winning once for her performance in The Blind Side. (2009)
