Edie Falco is an actress who was born on July 5, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. Falco grew up acting in plays. After graduating from high school she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting. Her early acting work includes parts in the series Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street, and the film Laws of Gravity. She later landed a regular part in the series Oz and rose to fame with her role in the film Bullets over Broadway in 1994. Falco is known mostly for her main role in the series The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie. Awards she has won include 2 Golden Globe Awards, 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, and 5 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
