Weekend Box Office Report - 11-13-2017

This past weekend it a race for #2 as Thor: Ragnarok continued its box office domination and is now the 12th highest grossing Marvel Studios film. But the other two contenders weren’t out of the race and both had strong openings with Daddy’s Home 2 coming in second with $30 million and Murder on the Orient Express coming in third with $22 million.

CAA came out the best this weekend as they not only rep Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett, but also Murder stars Johnny Depp and Daisy Ridley AND Daddy’s Home 2’s Mel Gibson and co-writer John Morris.

WME had a fine showing this weekend repping Murder on the Orient Express’ director/star Kenneth Branagh, writer Michael Green, and Daddy’s Home 2 star Mark Whalberg.

UTA also popped up in the top ten as they rep Daddy’s Home 2 director and co-writer Sean Anders, and co-star Will Farrell. UTA should also be happy with Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut as that film expanded its release and cracked the top ten with $1.25 million.

Next week: It’ll be an exciting superhero slugfest between the Justice League and Thor. Whoever wins – CAA will be happy as they represent Thor’s director and stars and Justice League’s director – Zack Snyder. But, I’ll bet WME is rooting for the Justice League as they represent Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Henry Cavill. Stay tuned to this space.
